1. Scope
This policy covers Nearlimit at nearlimit.com and applies to everything you do on it.
Edgewater Media LLC operates a number of websites and applications. Some are free tools that need no account at all. Others require you to register and pay. This policy is written to cover both, so where it says a feature may exist, it applies only if that feature exists on this site.
2. Information We Collect
Depending on which features you use, we may collect:
- Account information
- Where the Service offers accounts: your email address, and optionally your name, company name and phone number.
- Content you provide
- Anything you type, upload or import, including projects, entries, notes, figures, photos, captions and files.
- Billing information
- Where the Service offers paid plans: your subscription status and the last four digits and brand of your card. Full card numbers are handled by our payment processor and never reach our systems.
- Usage data
- Pages viewed, features used, session activity, approximate location derived from IP address, and basic device and browser information.
On sites that require no account, we do not ask who you are, and you can use them without giving us any personal information.
3. How We Use It
- Running the Service and showing you your own data
- Signing you in, resetting passwords and handling subscriptions
- Sending service email such as receipts, security notices and support replies
- Understanding which features get used so we can fix and improve them
- Displaying and measuring advertising, where the Service carries it
- Meeting legal, tax and accounting obligations
We do not use your content to train machine learning models, and we do not sell or rent your personal information.
4. Who Processes Your Data
We use the vendors below. Each does one job and receives only what that job needs.
- Cloudflare
- Hosting, content delivery, DNS and SSL, and database storage where the Service stores data.
- Stripe
- Payment processing where the Service takes payment. Card details are entered directly with Stripe.
- Analytics for anonymous usage measurement, and advertising through Google AdSense where the Service carries ads.
- Ezoic
- Advertising and page optimisation where the Service carries ads.
- Anthropic
- AI processing for features you start yourself, where the Service offers them. Content sent this way is not used to train models.
- Speech recognition
- Where the Service offers voice entry, speech is transcribed by your own device or browser. We do not record, store or transmit audio.
- Email delivery
- Transactional email such as password resets and receipts.
Beyond these, we share data only where the law requires it, or in a merger or sale of assets, in which case you would be notified.
5. Cookies, Analytics and Advertising
- Essential cookies
- Sign-in and session handling. Used only where the Service has accounts, and it cannot work without them.
- Analytics cookies
- Anonymous measurement through Google Analytics, configured with IP anonymization. These do not identify you personally.
- Advertising cookies
- Where the Service carries advertising, Google and its partners use cookies to serve and measure ads, including ads based on your visits to this and other sites.
You can opt out of personalised advertising in your Google Ads Settings, and out of third party vendor cookies at aboutads.info. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser, though essential cookies are required for any part of the Service that needs a login.
We honour Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track signals where your browser sends them.
6. Security
- All traffic runs over HTTPS using TLS 1.2 or higher
- Passwords are hashed with bcrypt and never stored in readable form
- You can reach only your own data
- Login attempts are rate limited against brute force
These are industry standard measures and no system is completely secure. Where you have an account, keeping your password confidential is your responsibility.
7. How Long We Keep It
- Active accounts
- For as long as the account is open.
- Closed accounts
- Deleted within 30 days of closure, or immediately on request.
- Backups
- Backup copies may persist for up to 90 days after deletion.
- Analytics and ad data
- Retained by those providers under their own policies.
- Legal holds
- Kept longer where the law requires it.
8. Your Rights
Wherever you live, you can ask us to:
- Give you a copy of the data we hold about you
- Correct anything inaccurate or incomplete
- Delete your account and the data in it
- Export your own content in a usable format
- Stop sending you marketing email. Service email such as receipts and security notices continues
- Stop selling or sharing your personal information. We do not do this in the first place
Write to hello@edgewater-media.com and we will act within 30 days. We will not treat you differently for asking.
9. Children
Nearlimit is not intended for anyone under 18 and we do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has given us personal information, write to hello@edgewater-media.com and we will delete it.
10. Where Your Data Is Held
We operate from the United States and your data is processed there. If you use the Service from elsewhere, using it means you consent to that transfer.
11. Changes
We may update this policy. Changes are posted here with a new effective date, and where you have an account we will email you about anything material.
